Thieves target McIntyre's Washington office

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Rep. Mike McIntyre's Capitol Hill office was one of several targeted by thieves recently.

McIntyre's Chief of Staff Dean Mitchell says several items of memorabilia were stolen from the congressman's office during the August District Work Period. He says the US Capitol Police are investigating the robbery.

A report on NationalJournal.com says the items were stolen between from the office in the Rayburn Building between August 3 and September 11. McIntyre is reportedly the fifth member of Congress and first Democrat to be burglarized since April.

According to the NationalJournal.com story, "McIntyre's office lost two bottles of Scotch, three presidential Easter eggs, two bottles of cologne, and 10 pairs of collector's cuff links, each valued at $100."
