WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A man is in jail after police say he assaulted and kidnapped a woman over the weekend.
Saturday morning, Wilmington Police responded to a home at 611 S. 7th Street, where a concerned citizen reported Kalmeaice Kawana Williams, 36, was beating a woman and dragging her into his home. When officers arrived, they say several family members were quickly exiting the home. One of the relatives told officers that Williams was still in the house.
Officers could see Williams was in the house. They forced their way in to check the welfare of the woman. She told officers Williams had punched her in the face and dragged her into the house by her neck and kept her in a back room.
Officers arrested Williams for an outstanding warrant as well as assault on a female, 2nd degree kidnapping, interference with emergency communication and injury to personal property. He is in the New Hanover County Jail without bond.
