WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington's Coastal Christian High School will soon open the doors to a brand new building.
Though it will be a few weeks before it actually opens, the school dedicated the new facility this afternoon. It's located off of Piner Road near the school's sports fields.
Sixteen new classrooms, several science labs, a choir room and a bigger and better gym are all a part of the new building, which development director Cindy Auten says is needed to accommodate even more students in the high school. She says that has always been the ultimate goal.
"What this school means for us is the opportunity to have more students, and that means we'll be able to further the Kingdom of God," Auten said.
During the ceremony, Rep. Mike McIntyre and Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo both spoke and helped dedicate the new facility.
The project cost a total of $4 million. Much of that was donated by several families.
