Traffic moves as Trader Joe's opens

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Today marks the grand opening of the Cape Fear's newest specialty grocery store.

Traffic was expected to be backed up at Trader Joe's at College and Oleander, but cars seemed to be flowing normally through Wilmington's busiest intersection.

Wilmington Police were on stand by just in case traffic took a turn for the worse. This afternoon, New Hanover County Dispatch said there had been no reported problems.

MAYBE THERE WASN'T A BACK AS

MAYBE THERE WASN'T A BACK AS FEARED, BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE WERE SMART AND AVOIDED THE PLACE. I KNOW I AND OTHERS DID. THE NEWS MEDIA IS THE ONES THAT CAUSEDrunny nose ALL THE HYPE.

Not as bad as anticipated

Drove by there yesterday and traffic wasn't as bad as expected. Still seems like parking lot is too small, but once the hype as fizzled, shouldn't be too much of an issue. Glad they're here!

no problems

I arrived at Trader Joe's about 10:00 this morning and had no problem entering the parking lot. The lot was full but I found a spot that someone was vacating just as I pulled in. The store was packed but everyone was pleasant. Just like the Triangle locations, the whole staff was amazingly friendly!!! I shopped about 45 minutes and waited in line about 3 minutes. Leaving the lot was just as easy - no backups. Overall a wonderful experience. WELCOME Trader Joe's!!!!!!

Looks like Chicken Little was wrong again.

Despite the dire predictions, the sky never actually fell and the traffic never actually backed up either.

I

for one will NEVER pull into that parking lot...you would have to be NUTZ! WORST intersection in town..and you would be playing chicken to get out!

Drama....

Overreact much? It's not that bad. Why people have cried about traffic all along is amazing. I guess now that they have been proven WRONG they will fill the void with bitterness.

oh... I doubt the place will miss your business btw....
