Pastor pleads guilty to sex crimes against child

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington pastor charged last year with sex crimes against a minor pleaded guilty today.

Thomas Wiggins Jr. pleaded guilty to six counts of felony sex offense as a substitute parent for crimes that happened in 1998.

Prosecutors say Wiggins's victim was a 14-year-old boy, who was a member of Wiggins's church and whose parents were divorced. They say Wiggins became a father-figure to the victim, but over the course of the next two years began to sexually violate him.

Today, wiggins said he did commit the crimes. His lawyer said there is not a day that goes by Wiggins does not ask for forgiveness.

The judge sentenced Wiggins to six to nine years in prison. He also must register as a sex offender for the next 30 years.

The prosecution says the victim is glad he will not have to testify in court and that he is satisfied with the outcome.

People you all are way off

People you all are way off course! YES if he asked for forgiveness and was sincere he is prob already forgiven! We see with the human eye and see this as a bigger sin than lets say smoking! I THINK God sees all sins as just that! A SIN and if we ask for forgiveness with sincerity HE will grant it! U judging him is just as bad as what he did in God's eye! Did u ask for forgiveness?

Pedophile Using the Name of God

Where are all the people that were standing up for this pedophile now? I remember comments like He is a Man of God.... blah, blah, blah. People accusing the child of making it up etc. Eat Crow you Morons.

The fox guarding the

The fox guarding the henhouse. He violated a trust. A man, or woman, who sexually abuses a child, should be put in the electric chair. This sick monster, will probably get a "dissability" check, courtesy of my tax dollars.

He won't get that until released.

Unless Congress disallows benefits for convicted felons.

On the other hand further his education; maybe get a law degree on the state tab.

Of course he may get to focus on dancing with the felons. Not likely to be televised due to the shower scenes.
