Putin signs anti-US adoptions bill

READ MORE:

MOSCOW (AP) -- President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill banning Americans from adopting Russian children.

The bill is part of the country's increasingly confrontational stance with the West and has angered some Russians who argue it victimizes children to make a political point.

UNICEF estimates that there are about 740,000 children not in parental custody in Russia,.

The law also blocks dozens of Russian children now in the process of being adopted by American families from leaving the country. The US is the biggest destination for adopted Russian children. More than 60,000 of them have been taken in by Americans over the past two decades.

It is retaliation for an American law that calls for sanctions against Russian officials deemed human rights violators.

In retaliation?

Let's see here...make sure we have this correctly. Russia retaliates against the US by not allowing US adoptions of Russian "throw-away" children, thereby preventing those children the possibility of a decent, human-like childhood. This retaliation is due to an American law that sanctions against Russian officials that are deemed "human rights violators"? Hooda thunk it?

Got it! Who ever thought the Russians were NOT human rights violators in the first place? They had rather let their own people rot and starve to death than to show compassion. They are a proven government of Genocide. Has anyone ever forgotten the atrocities of Stalin and how he put Hiltler to shame with the millions he slaughtered?

Russia...the country that has always been behind due to ignorance and blind bull-headedness. Some things never change, this decision is just more proof of that.
