WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- After months of searching for missing 83-year-old Alma Lawson, Wilmington Police uncovered human remains in the Love Grove community Friday.
Today, an autopsy was set to be performed as Lawson's family anxiously waits for answers.
After months of questions, they are no closer to any answers.
Police say they have not yet received preliminary results from the autopsy.
Investigators found remains Friday along railroad tracks on Wilmington's north side, where Lawson was last seen in November.
Even without the results, Lawson's family has no doubt the autopsy will identify Alma Lawson.
"It's a feeling that we know that we don't have to be assuming anymore where she is or what happened. We still don't know that part, what happened. But we've got closure somewhat at this point," said Lawson's son, Amhad Rashed.
Rashed is discouraged he still does not have the answers he was promised, but says his family is trying to move on as best they can.
A police spokeswoman says she does not know what is causing the hold-up. Police hope to have the results soon.
