Cases continued, headed to grand jury in Proutey murder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Four suspects charged with the murder of a Cape Fear Community College student will have to wait a little while longer to have their day in court.

According to the New Hanover County District Attorney's Office the cases of Christopher Daniel Cromartie Jr., 23, Daniel Edward Henry, 17, Jasmine Nikole Dottin, 19, and Quintel Grady, 22, have been continued. All the cases are headed to a grand jury.

The four suspects are charged with felony first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the murder of Joshua Proutey in December. Dottin also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failing to appear on an unspecified charge.

Cromartie, Dottin and Grady are all being held without bond and could face the death penalty. Because Henry is a minor, he is being held under a $2 million bond and faces a maximum of life without parole.

Educated? Really? Boy you have the education of a one legged dead mule. Shouldn't you be doing the whole security guard thing? Someday you may even become a real police officer, haha kidding, won't happen.

Just a year ago, you, KBLUE,

Just a year ago, you, KBLUE, were standing against injustice, and led a uphill fight against bullyying, and evil. Good to see you back in cyberspace. Say's who, say's PublicAvenger

a joke

The majority of us won't live long enough to see any of these four punished. Our problem is our society, lack of parental guidance, the judicial system, judges and defending attorneys. It's all a game, a joke and a waste of time going to court. I firmly believe in vigilante justice. Take care of your problems and don't expect the courts to help you one bit. Won't happen.

You can'nt do that

don't you remember Smiley passing some Executive Order which granted minority individuals convicted and sentenced to death an additional appeal not available to others. You know the one which gaurantees them the right to a review to confirm the jury and prosecution were not racially imbalanced.

Perhaps the new Governor will rescind that Executive Order

do that

Tom i see i am not the only one that see you for who you are.Keep believing that you aren't.

Of the executive orders issued by Smiley about 115 of them were storm related.
Can you please tell me which Ex Order it was?

I'll check, I believe she issued in late 2010 or early 2011.

Waste of flesh they are

These four low life thugs are such a waste of flesh. They deserve no life once they are found guilty. What they did to Josh an innocent young gentleman doing good for his community going to school etc and then these four low life thugs come and take away his life all for a sub and money.

My heart goes out to Josh and his family he seems like such a great young man and was on a great path in his life and had so much going for himself. Sending thoughts and prayers.

I can't wait for the day for justice to be served on these four low life thugs who deserve nothing, no sympathy for their actions and the one who went on camera to say he has nothing to do with it and didn't know it was going to happen, you were there, you were apart of it and now it's done and over with. An innocent life has been taken from us.

May justice and it will be served again you thugs.

Were they all aspiring rappers who were trying to turn their...

lives around? That's the usual line.

Maximum penalty

As a mother of two young boys I cannot imagine the pain, anguish and sadness felt by the family and friends of this young victim. The brutality of this crime and the fact that they showed no mercy to this young man or any regard for his life....I pray that if and when all four defendants are found guilty that they receive the maximum penalty allowed by the law. God bless this young man and his family and friends.

There's not a place hot

There's not a place hot enough in hell for these thugs. The epidemic continues...........

place hot

Hey if you aren't careful you might have a seat right next to them. You don't knw if they are going to hell or not.

And it will continue as long as the government gives all these girls money, food stamps, medical and rent all for FREE! The more kids the more freebies. And the kids are left to be raised by what ever or who ever might be around for the day while Mom is out breeding again.
