Marlin & Ray’s closes

WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWSONLINE.COM) -- Employees of Marlin & Ray’s, which opened in late May at 11 Van Campen Blvd., learned of the restaurant’s closing during a staff meeting last night according to a manager on site Thursday morning. The short-lived casual eatery was known for having a seafood-heavy menu and a range of booze-spiked “Adult Slushies.”

The move is part of a larger retraction announced in the company’s quarterly report by new Ruby Tuesday, Inc. CEO J.J. Buettgen yesterday, which sees the company shuttering all of their Marlin & Ray’s, Truffles Grill and Wok Hay concepts nationally.

Marlin & rays

They also didn't pay my son for the 2 months he worked there, sometimes 12+ hour days

I think it closed due to no ballpark.

Honestly? I'm not a fan of all their food but I am disappointed in general with MOST seafood places around here. I do have it fried sometimes but I'm not a fan of Calabsh styled seafood, the breading takes away from the delicate flavor of most fish.
I would hope that another chain buys this location so people can possibly go to work for them.

No Surprise

This is no surprise, food wasn't good, went there one night and food was horrible. service was okay. Only reason we went there for to use coupon for free appetizer. We got the shrimp and menu says large shrimp 10.99 they aren't anywhere near large shrimp they are more like mini / small size.

The dinner we ordered were both over cooked, place was dead, and the couple next to us they were on their first date and their waiter forgot about them so their meal was compensated.

All i can say was we tried it wasn't good and never went back and this doesn't shock me that they are going out of business.
