WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- While the movie world is focused on honoring the best of 2012 at the upcoming Golden Globes and Academy Awards, another contest aims to recognize the worst Hollywood had to offer last year, including a film shot in Wilmington.
The teen sex and gore flick "Piranha 3DD," shot at Jungle Rapids in 2011, is up for two Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies.
"Piranha 3DD" is nominated for Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. David Hasselhoff, who plays himself in the movie, is up for Worst Supporting Actor.
The final installment of the "Twilight" series "Breaking Dawn Part 2" leads the way with 11 Razzie nominations, including Worst Remake. The category also includes "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," "Red Dawn" and "Madea's Witness Protection."
Hasselhoff is up against Taylor Lautner ("Breaking Dawn"), Liam Neeson ("Battleship" and "Wrath of the Titans") and Nick Swardson and Vanilla Ice, who both appeared in "That's My Boy."
The Razzies will be awarded Feb. 23, which is the day before the Oscars.
