Police: Burglar caught in the act

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police say they caught a burglar in the act last night.

Officers responded to a call at 1610 Dock Street and found Reginald Lewis Gibson, 43, running out of a home. They caught him after a short chase.

Police say Gibson had nothing from the home on him, but officers found he had things from another breaking and entering call at 1502 Ann Street.

Gibson is charged with two counts of B & E, one count of larceny, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Department of Corrections records show Gibson has a long history of burglary and theft charges. He is due in New Hanover County Court next week for attempted breaking and robbery and injury to personal property charges from last year, according to court records.
