Juneteenth Festival accepts pageant applications

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The first Juneteenth Festival took place in 1995 and continues to grow in size. The festival isn't until June, but right now young women can begin entering applications for the Juneteenth pageant.

The goal is to encourage and emphasize the importance of community pride, business and dollar turnover, according to organizer Yushonda Midgette-Spriggs. You can get all the details on essay topics and rules when you watch Midgette-Spriggs interview with Good Morning Carolina anchor Ashley Jacobs.
