Bank heist suspect sentenced to 22 years for store robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A man accused of robbing a Leland bank more than a year ago. A federal judge has sentenced Sherwin Archie to 22 years in prison, according to the US Attorney's Office.

Last summer Archie pleaded guilty to the armed robbery of the Family Dollar store on Shipyard Blvd. in October 2011.

He was arrested days later for the robbery of the Cape Fear Credit Union in Leland.

He was sentenced as an armed career criminal today for that crime.

A US Attorney's Office spokesman tells WWAY a grand jury indicted Archie on the bank robbery charge, but he only pleaded guilty to the store robbery charge.
