BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County family is looking for help finding a teenage girl missing for nearly two years.

Rachel Natacha Owens was last seen on the morning of May 5, 2011, getting off her school bus at South Brunswick High School in Boiling Spring Lakes and getting into a small dark color car. Investigators say the car may have had a South Carolina tag. She was 15 years old at the time.

Today, her family will meet with Brunswick County Sheriff’s investigators and the FBI.

Investigators say Owens has run away in the past and was found in the company of Santos Pacheco-Sarmiento. She has expressed wanting to go to Mexico and may be going by the name “Raquel.” Owens has not had any contact with any of her friends or family.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $500 reward for the whereabouts of Owens.

If you have any information, contact Det. Holly Locklear at (910) 880-4950 or Lt. Donna Simpson at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office or call 911. If you wish to submit an anonymous tip, please visit the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office website and go to submit a tip.

I can’t even imagine what this family has gone through the past 2 years, not knowing where she is. Hopefully, she did run away and is living with someone instead of the alternative. Perhaps the more information is that avaialable to the public, the bigger chance she will be found. I can’t understand why there has not been more publicity about this over time

Santos — the illegal immigrant suspected of being involved — was arrested in Oct. 2013 and appears to be in an ICE hold in jail — so I would suggest starting with him — grill him.
