Deer crashes into Market Street business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington business got quite a surprise today when a deer crashed through its front window.

Around noon today, employees and customers at the Plant Place on Market Sstreet heard a loud bang followed by the sound of breaking glass and merchandise. The buck stopped halfway in the window but then fled on hoof.

"My first reactions were you've got to be kidding me! A deer on Market Street coming off of Market Street with that much force hitting a window and breaking it? It was shocking," Plant Place owner Bobbie Edwards said.

It's not clear why the deer charged the shop, but the employees believe the deer might have been spooked by his reflection in the window.
