Driver charged with DWI after car hits house

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police charged a driver with DWI after they say he crashed his car into a house early this morning.

It happened just before 3 a.m. near the intersection of S. 4th Street and Ann Street.

Police say Nathan Leemhuis, 22, was speeding down S. 4th Street when he tried to turn right onto Ann Street. Instead, they say he hit the house.

Investigators say Leemhuis went to the hospital to be checked out, but had no major injuries. After he left the hospital, police charged him with DWI and reckless driving.

Jail records show Leemhuis is due in court on the charges Monday.

another drunk driver

Seems more and more of them risking our lives.
How does a person even speed down 4th st? He ran into a house? wow. Guess he couldn't see it? lol. well, we all know it could have been a car full of people or innocent walking on the sidewalk or sitting on their porch.
Lets see if this drunk with no respect for the no speeding, no drunk driving Laws gets any active jail time so he can learn a lesson . If he gets the usual "slap on the hand" in court we know we will see him on the news again. Next time for killing one of our loved ones.

Hate It When That Happens

D*mn I hate it when houses do that. You think they would know better than get out in the road like that. Sounds like a good case to sue the homeowners for allowing their house out without a lease on. There are laws against that.....I think

You would think, PublicAvenger

. . . but NC (and its counties) doesn't seems very serious about protecting the innocent, law-abiding citizen from these folks.

Accidents Will Happen

But if he / she was drunk, driving without a license, nor insurance, then they need to go to jail.
