RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) -- Law enforcement officers made more than 690 DWI arrests during St. Patrick's Day "Booze It & Lose It" campaign.
The campaign ran March 15th through 17th and officers statewide conducted more than two thousand sobriety checkpoints and dedicated patrols.
Wake, Guilford, Forsyth counties had the highest number of DWI citations.
Officers also issued 1,458 safety belt and 258 child passenger safety violations, 5,842 speeding violations and 555 drug charges.
In addition, they apprehended 407 fugitives from justice and recovered 9 stolen vehicles.

If the punishment or DWI was stiffer then we wouldn't have as many drunks driving on the roads. Raleigh needs to wake up and deal with this problem.
