CFCC plant sale offers cheap way to start spring garden

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Cape Fear Community College is helping you save some money on your spring garden. The school's annual plant sale this week is a fundraiser for its landscaping program.

Students host the plant sale once a year, and it sells out fast. Students grow, market and sell the plants for their greenhouse management class.

They are selling several kinds of vegetables, plants and flowers. There are around 1,400 four-inch pots up for grab. They can be yours for $2.99 a piece or four for $10.

One instructor says they hope to sell everything to help the program.

"We make all of the money back that we put into it, and the proceeds from the sale go back into the program to later in the summer buy gas or oil or whatever we need; some lawn mower blades or whatever we're going to need. It goes into that," CFCC Landscape Gardening Instructor Ken Well said.

The sale runs tomorrow through Friday. It's open each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The plant sale is at the North Campus greenhouse off Blue Clay Road.

CFCC Plant Sale

Sorry about the lack of adequate signage, I will work on that problem next year.
Ms. Morris is incorrect in her comment about the sale being out of plants. We have over eight hundred plants still for sale. I would like to thank everyone who has already come out and supported the program by purchasing plants. I hope to see everyone else today out at CFCC’s north campus. Remember we are located next to the Sidbury Rd entrance. Here is a link to the north campus map http://www2.cfcc.edu/maps-directions/north-campus-map/
