Azalea Festival Art Show raises money for art scholarships

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Azalea Festival may be about flowers, but it also has an event for for art lovers.

The 31st Juried Art Show featured more than 100 work by artists from North Carolina and surrounding states.

Art Show Chair Gale Smith said she was very pleased with the event's new location at the Hannah Block Historic USO Building.

"This location has been wonderful. The foot traffic has been wonderful," she said "There are so many people milling around, and it's been constant since it opened on Thursday."

Smith says the money raised at the event goes toward two art scholarships.
