MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WWAY) -- A Pender County man is in jail in South Carolina accused of assaulting a woman as she slept.

Myrtle Beach Police Department reports say Joseph Michael Wildenmann, 32, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature. Arrest reports list his address as Rocky Point and Currie.

Police say around 4 a.m. yesterday they responded to a hotel on Ocean Blvd. to an assault call. The victim told an officer she was asleep in her hotel room when Wildenmann came back to the room from a bar and started to strangle, punch and kick her all over her body, according to the report.

The report says the woman had two black eyes and blood around her mouth. EMS took her to a hospital.

After getting a warrant for Wildenmann, police arrested him a few hours later at the hotel. An arrest report says he was drunk when police took him into custody.

Wildenmann is in jail. Bond has not been set for him.
