Brandon Taylor worked as a reporter for a bit down in Myrtle Beach, then decided to head in a whole new direction and became a youth minister.

Then the TV bug started biting again and he sent us his application. Here's another irony for you, Brandon and Kevin Wuzzardo grew up togther in Columbia, SC.

Brandon brings excitement and passion to our newsroom, and I love it. He makes us all laugh and gives us some perspective since he's had to mentor hundreds of kids while a youth minister.

Here's more about him:

After a brief hiatus Brandon Taylor is returning to his lifelong passion of television news. He is a no stranger to the Carolinas. Brandon grew up in Columbia, SC, where at a very young age he realized his loved for television.

At the age of 10 Brandon began hosting the South Carolina Educational Television Book Awards and other special events on the state's educational network.

Brandon graduated from Winthrop University in 2007 with a BA in Communications and Journalism. His first job out of school was in Lumberton as a Multi-Media Journalist with WBTW, the CBS Affiliate in Myrtle Beach.

Most recently Brandon has spent the past four years working with students in the Myrtle Beach area as the Director of Youth Ministry at First United Methodist Church.

When he isn’t bringing you the news, Brandon enjoys traveling, food and meeting new people. Brandon and his dog Bailey moved to Southeastern North Carolina in April 2013 to join the WWAY News Team.

If you see Brandon around town make sure to say hello, because he is looking forward to meeting the great people of the Cape Fear. Email Brandon at btaylor@wwaytv3.com

Uh oh Brandon ...

Just noticed you've been moved about 15 stories down the list from the other day when they first introduced you. Looks like the news business is a harsh mistress. Better get out there in bring in some breaking news toot suite!

No reason to panic just yet though. Apparently there's an Iron Man movie story lurking behind every lampost in Wilmington. Just go out and bring one or two back to the station. :-)

Wonder if...

I wonder if his first two on-air words started with an "F" and an "S"? If not then he is way ahead of the new guy in North Dakota.

I've enjoyed what Brandon

I've enjoyed what Brandon has done so far. The only thing I would say to him and some of the other newbies is to think about pronouncing the names of the local towns the way the locals do. :)

Keep up the good work.

start looking for a new weekend anchor

Went to Winthrop - STRIKE ONE
Worked at Myrtle Beach - STRIKE TWO
Grew up with Kevin Wuzzardo - STRIKE THREE
YOU'RE OUT.............

JUST JOKING Brandon - welcome aboard.
Please do NOT park in the employee parking lot - it gets blocked by the parade routes.
And we all know what that entails..........

To be fair...

I was friends with his older brother. I'm certain Brandon is a stronger man for enduring us picking on him when we were in middle school and he was in elementary school.

So Kevin

In todays world would what you and Brandon's brother did to him in elementary school be considered bullying? Or sibling rivalry?

Vog
