I am a disabled veteran who survived but today we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Our day is Veteran's Day but this day we give a salute, a memory and a thanks for those who did their duty, defending our nation and keeping us free and may God hold a special place in Heaven for their soul. For those who take their freedom for granted please remember those who fought and died and respect their devotion to our cause, freedom for all!

I served, but each Memorial Day I salute those that came before me and are still alive, and more importantly, those that went before me and who's memory we cherish today.
I am constantly amazed by the stories I hear about their exploits.
In our modern day conflicts we have become too used to over whelming superiority, and technical shock and awe. We are used to 10 to 1 kill ratios and expect those same numbers to continue in our favor. At it core though - it's still combat soldiers, and support servicemen and women. I am grateful for you all.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone. I am looking forward to a great meal, kids and grand kids around and perhaps a drink at the end of the day.

"Memorial Day is a day to honor and remember those who have served our country"

No, it's not. it's a day to honor and remember those who served our country and have DIED. Hence, the name MEMORIAL.

This is not Veterans Day. Everyone today wants to morph the days into each other so they are interchangeable. That's the day we honor those who served.

People Never get the flowers while they can still smell them.

I disagree, every day should be Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and even just appreciate an active duty members' day. They are risking their lives for our freedom, and living or dead, they should be celebrated and memorialized. I have family members who have made the ultimate sacrifice and while today is Memorial Day I also remember those in Afghanistan, South Korea and other places that we know about and those we do not.
