Bladenboro couple robbed while unloading groceries

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Bladen County Sheriff's deputies are searching for two people who robbed a Bladenboro couple at gunpoint as they unloaded groceries at their home.

Investigators say the couple had arrived at their home on NC 131 around 3 a.m. Wednesday after visiting family at a nearby hospital and stopping for groceries on the way home. As they took the groceries inside, a masked gunman approached the male victim underneath the carport and forced him face down while a second masked gunman went into the home and forced the female victim to get on the floor.

The gunmen then forced the couple into the living room where their hands and feet were tied.

The suspects went through the house and stole prescription medication, a rifle and a shotgun.

The victims were able to call 911 after the suspects left. Neither victim was injured.

Both suspects wore masks and gloves and were armed with handguns. The victims did not see a vehicle.

Anyone with information that might assist in this case is asked to call Bladen County Sheriff's Office Investigator Morgan Johnson at (910) 862-8141.
