WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police and fire crews are investigating a morning crash after officers say one of the cars caught flames near a Wilmington fire station.

Wilmington Police say the call came in around 8:40 a.m. about a crash at the intersection of 8th and Market streets, near a WFD fire station. That's where police say one of the cars involved in the crash went up in flames, with both fire and smoke visible.

WPD and WFD both responded to the scene and dispatchers say EMS was called to check out one of the passengers in the crash. They say there were no reports of injuries at last check. Officers and fire crews shut down a block of Market Street while they investigated and cleaned up from the crash.
