WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Training camp opens this week for Connor Barth and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Hoggard kicker will be the Tampa Bay kicker once again, even though Barth missed all of last season with a torn Achilles. "Shoreline Physical Therapy did a great job with my rehab," Barth said. "I had a great surgeon, he did a great job. Hopefully it'll be stronger than it's been and I'll go out and have the best year of my career. I'd like to just show people that I'm back to normal, the same person. The last OTA's and mini-camp I"ve been kicking the ball great, we start camp the 24th, so it's right around the corner and I'm looking forward to it. We're playing the Panthers the first game of the season this year, so it should be a fun start at home. Obviously they won the division last year, so we want to come back strong and hold our own turf and have a good showing."
"What do you envision the Lovie Smith(new head coach) factor being in Tampa this year?" "Just a hard-working awesome coach," Barth said. "He treats us well, he's a player's coach. He brings a lot of credibility to the team and the locker room. He's been to the Super Bowl, he's been successful everywhere he's been."
