Last night was a wild one in Major League Baseball. Two different leagues, two different Wild Card races and two historic collapses. One Wilmington super fan had a front row seat. Steve Melia completed his 162-game journey last night.

A Wilmington man convicted of killing a police officer appealed his second-degree murder conviction today. In February of 2009 Anthony Pierce led Wilmington Police on a chase after fleeing from an officer during a traffic stop.

We've learned that the county spent more than $600 to do a telemarketing blitz to alert people in the area about the town hall. A total of about 15 people showed up, and most of them said they learned about the meeting because of the sign in front of the school. That works out to be about $45 per person.
