Charlotte Council close to baseball funding plan

Charlotte City Council appears to be close to approving a plan to bring baseball downtown. Most city council members indicated Tuesday they could support a plan to provide the Charlotte Knights with $8 million to build a stadium uptown.

NC House panel OKs Cherokee casino game expansion

Changes to state gambling laws which allow the Cherokee casino in western North Carolina to offer live dealer poker and other table games have cleared a House budget subcommittee.

North Carolina stops annexation of Monkey Junction

video The State House of Representatives has given final approval to two bills blocking forced annexation in North Carolina. One bill overturns the annexation of Monkey Junction, areas near Southport and others across the state. That's a done deal.

City's consultant releases ballpark survey results, potential sites narrowed down

video The City of Wilmington is one step closer to building a ballpark and bringing a minor league team to the Port City. The city’s consultant, National Sports Services, presented results from a recent survey about the ballpark Tuesday night, as well as some potential building sites.
