A Charlotte woman has been hospitalized for severe injuries from a pit bull bite.
WCNC-TV reports Thursday that the woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for a bite to her leg.

A state-run ferry route connecting islands along North Carolina's Outer Banks is back in service after a vessel ran aground in rough seas.
The N.C. Department of Transportation says the Motor Vessel Frisco ran aground in Hatteras Inlet about 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday with 35 passengers, six crew members and 19 vehicles on board. No injuries were reported.

Eric Mansfield of Fayetteville told party members of his entry into the race in an e-mail last week.
