Businessman's donation could save firefighters' lives

New Hanover Co. Courthouse closed Thursday because of bed bugs

The New Hanover County Courthouse will be closed Thursday because of bed bugs. Chief District Court Judge Jay Corpening says the exterminator is due in the morning, but it will take most of the day to deal with the bugs.

Lack of students puts Catholic high school plan on hold

videoFor years a lot of folks have wanted a Catholic high school in the Cape Fear, but it looks like that will not happen any time soon. During a visit to Wilmington today, Bishop Michael Burbidge of the Raleigh Diocese said that talks of building a long-sought Catholic high school here are on hold.

Leland, Bald Head fire departments get federal money

Two fire departments in Brunswick County are getting help from the federal government. Leland Fire Rescue and the Bald Head Island Fire Department are each getting money from the the US Department of Homeland Security for operations and safety improvements.
