Entertainment TOO expensive

Unfortunately, the ones making the decisions of what entertainment to bring to town - aren't living the lifestyle most of us do. Some have NO CONCEPT of what it means to struggle and try to entertain your family. I think we will walk the free street fair and then go home for dinner and a rented movie!

Lifestyle

Movies, Theater, concerts and circuses ALL cost money to attend......How about: snug Harbor botanic garden and-children's museum, the boardwalk, the beaches and the parks...There all free. Then there are the museums in Manhattan The Met, Natural History, MOMA to name but a few They all have Suggested admission prices, just give them a few buck's and the ferry is free to....Take that for a ride. Last week in china town I saw two 5 year olds pulling empty boxes on string and having great fun racing each other.... kids will entertain themselves they don't have to attend All that New York has to offer, pick and chose what fit's your budget. Not many can afford everything....

Are area is filled with

Are area is filled with forclosed homes, so how can people afford the circus? @20.00 dollars a head. Just one more way for the city to take money from us. Forget the circus fix the city. I know there are a few roads that need attention.

circus

How is the city taking money? The city doesn't get money from the circus...???

it's spelled "our"

wow, i hope a five year old wrote "are"

Circus

I agree with you both. We are also a family of 5 and intend to take our children to the circus this weekend. We did get some tickets at our local McDonalds that let a child in for free with a paying adult. It is still quite pricy, even with the coupons. I've tried winning them off of the morning news from their trivia question, but to no avail!

R u folks for real

are you guys for real - 1st of al - the animal abuse is very WELL documented !! BY the usda - as well as many other organizations - NOW - i to think most of these peta folks are nuts - but it is clear - that you can not get a 900 lbs elephant to stand on its head - or spin around - with positive reinforcements - also - i urge you - that if you do go - and by chance ever see tigers or big cats ( or any anamal ) - watch how the interact with their trainers - on ringling brothers book itself - you see how they FLINCH - and are afraid of every hand movment ? I guess this is from them giving them to many treats - right ? NOT ! anyways - it is clear that these shows - are not friendly - and it is clear - that those - working for the shows - are 80 % running from someone - or something - These folks usually have some sort of criminal backgrounds - and many are preditors of children - ( good place for them to work i guess ) - I urge you to look at the usda reports themselves - ! It shows clear disregard for anamal welfare - Ringling trainers has been found guilty of shooting a tiger while in a cage because the tiger bit his brother while on a photo shoot - ( i guess tigers should be models now and sit pretty for pictures - also these usda reports show - ringling ( THE BIGGEST SHOW IN THE US- WITH THE MOST $$ ) - has killed anamals by keeping them on the trains in 100 degree heat - or having the horses run on the tracks - and get stuck by on coming trains - lastly - the elephants are the real tear jerker for me - it is so sad that these folks try to have everyone believe that they are into conservation - and protecting endanger species - all they protect is their own pocket book - ! they do not have breeding programs - for anything else then keeping their own stock up - and if you all look at there results they are horrible at doing that - in there 50 plus herd of asian elephants - over 30 have dies in the last 10 years - !! I urge you all to look at the elephant registry - it shows in the entire world - who keeps these wonderful anamals - and the exact outcome of each one of them - ie tranfered - died - ect --- it is so sad - how you see these shifted around - from zoo- to circus - back to zoos back to priv owners - lastly - the zoos itself are part of the problem - they start these elephant breeding program s- to have a baby - to bring in folks - and then when they get bigger - they are transferred to circus's - to be tethered with chains front and back legs over 12 hrs per day - COME ON FOLKS - open your eyes - Yes we all love remembering going to the circus when we where kids - but as the internet is out there - and knowledge it at your fingertips - wy not educate yourself on the subject ?? I bet you will never find a elephant training video - on positive training methods - only beatings - and breaking down the spirits of them to obey - WE ARE BETTER THEN THIS !!! Yes - we should stop this abuse - and learn from our mistakes in the past - !! as for issues with $$ - i bet your internet cost per mnth are more then 20 bucks - and your ciggs - or social act. are more then - that - hey times are tough - and we all need to proritize - and for my family - seeing animals jumping thru hoops is not on the top of my list before gas - food - and my kids education -

who goes to this??

First of all, why bring this entertainment to town when few can afford to go?? Is there nothing else that this city can find for a family to enjoy? The circus can be fun and entertaining but at these prices we would have to watch it on TV rather than be able to attend in person. Isn't there something else that can be done?

Cole Bros Circus

Just like you the circus is faced with rising costs. to fill one truck with diesel fuel is over $1200. They have over 20. There are discount coupons you can use for both adult and child. $5 off adult and free child with adult admission. When you pay over $6 to go to the movies plus cost of treats at movies the circus offers you an up close attraction that is rated G for families, circus is a good deal. How many movies are rated G? There is no easy answer to todays economic problems. I am on a fixed income (retired ob SS) and have had to cut back on certain activities. Out goverment has let us down. They have done nothing to easy gas and housing problems. as for the circus I still enjoy it and will see many this year. Take the family to the circus-it is one of the few family attractions left today.

Government has let you down????

Are you kidding me? How about "I have let myself down for not properly planning for the future." Your statement is picture perfect with the direction that our society is heading..."The situation I am in is not my fault (and my poor decisions), it is someone else's and they are supposed to take care of me..." Absolutely pathetic.....

WHERE CAN YOU GET THE $5.00

WHERE CAN YOU GET THE $5.00 OFF ADULT COUPONS? I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM YET!

Cost too much

Too bad the tickets cost so much. It's not cheap for a family of five. Then you still have to pay for the extras: drinks,popcorn,sno-cones,etc.

Get rid of your old stuff

Have a yard sale?

we are already doing that to

we are already doing that to pay for gas and food :)

circus

in reply to your comment, most people are going to use their rebates coming out next month for food, gas and bills too. forget buying luxury items.
