Governor Bev Perdue came to Bladen County to witness the damage herself. She says right now, 22 are confirmed dead and 80 more are seriously injured in the state.

The Bladen County Emergency Operations Center confirms there are three people dead after storms ripped through Bladen County this afternoon. They say two people are dead in Ammon north of Elizabethtown. One person is dead in Bladenboro.

State Highway Patrol Investigators say a Tar Heel firefighter was speeding on his way to a fire call when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an oncoming car.

A member of the Tar Heel Fire Department has died from injuries suffered in a car accident on the way to an emergency. Bladen County Fire Marshal Bradley Kinlaw said the firefighter was David Hunsinger Jr., the son of Tar Heel Fire Chief David Hunsinger Sr.

East Bladen's C.J. Melvin earned all-state honors on Wednesday. Melvin will play college hoops at East Carolina. Hoggard's Stilman White also was named all-state. White hasn't made a commitment yet, but he does plan to play college basketball.
