A Bladen County Sheriff's deputy is dead after a car crash while responding to a call.
The Sheriff's Office says just before 11 p.m. Friday, Dep. Dewayne Charles Hester, 39, died while responding to an in-progress assault with a deadly weapon incident in his marked patrol car.
