Usually elections are about who is on the ballot, but in the Bladen County town of Tar Heel, yesterday's election was about who was not on it. No one filed to run for mayor or three open town council seats. The lack of candidates led to write-in campaigns.

Allen "Frog" Strickland, who was sentenced to seven months in prison for vandalizing former Sen. R.C. Soles's home and office, has been moved to a facility closer to home.

Horner’s family spent several days at White Lake in August. Year after year, the Horners and their extended family would return to the lake to enjoy time with each other and the friends they’ve made. It was in the afternoon that Horner sprinted before diving off the pier. His head hit the bottom of the lake.

The season is over for the West Bladen football team. The Knights won't be in the state playoffs due to a 1-9 record in the regular season. Head coach Pat Byrd has stepped down with the school looking to go a different direction.

An Elizabethtown man has won the largest lottery prize in Bladen County history. Wesley Skinner, who works as a warehouse manager in Dublin, and his wife Jeanette claimed claimed the $300,632 jackpot in Raleigh today.

Ag’em Up Day gave students an opportunity to get hands-on while exploring different aspects of agriculture. Seven different stations were set up, which included lessons on cotton, soil, and swine just to name a few.

An autopsy report done on 9-day-old Addyson Camerino, who was killed in Bladen County by family dogs, shows the baby had multiple teeth injuries on her body and that the dogs may have broken her neck during the mauling.
