Leland man arrested on insurance fraud

Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin today announced the arrest of Joshua Rex Walston, 26, of 1567 Lanvale Road, Leland; he is charged with one count each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense.

One Brunswick County woman will soon be able to sleep easier at night. She ordered a Contour Adjustable Bed last month, but when she tried to return it, she ran into some problems. So she contacted TROUBLESHOOTERS for help.

NC Appeals Court divided on Brunswick Co. school's 'bra lift' search

video A State Court of Appeals has reviewed the legality of personal searches on students. In 2008, the Brunswick County Academy required a "bra-lift" search on its female students, which some say is unconstitutional. According to a ruling by the court of appeals today, the “bra-lift” search at the alternative school was degrading, demeaning and highly intrusive.

Judge Lewis, we have higher expectations for our judges. We expect them to be ABOVE the riff-raff that happens on the political battlefield. Not only have you caused a division in the Brunswick County Republican Party, you've also chosen to wage two political battles -- which you've lost. Perhaps it would be a good idea if you stuck with what you know best, ruling on judicial and legal issues from the bench, and stay out of politics. Brunswick, Columbus and Bladen Counties have enough drama already without you stirring up more.

Brunswick Co. Animal Shelter ends Saturday hours

If you want to adopt a pet from the Brunswick County Animal Shelter, you'll have to do it on a weekday. Starting next weekend the shelter will no longer be open on Saturdays.

Shallotte man charged with sexually abusing Cumberland boy

Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said that Warner dared the child to take off his clothes and run outside naked, then inappropriately touched the boy.
