As of October 1 the State Legislature has enacted the Metal Theft Prevention Act, which aims to aid in the prosecution of thieves involved in the theft of nonferrous metals and ultimately help diminish or prevent this crime.

Four people are behind bars after two people were stabbed Friday night in Brunswick County, including a teenager.
Deputies were dispatched around 10:16 p.m. to 2157 Linda K. TR SW in Supply. When deputies arrived they found two people who had been stabbed.

Highway Patrol has identified the person killed while riding a bicycle on NC 179 this afternoon. Troopers say the victim is Timothy Leonard, 57, of Shallotte.
