The "Conversations with Kay" events that were scheduled for Thursday in Elizabethtown, Whiteville and Burgaw are cancelled and will be rescheduled due to Senate business.

Tabor City man charged with kidnapping, raping child

Police charged 49-year-old Calvin Sherwood Watts with kidnapping, rape and three counts of sexual offense. They say the charges stem from an incident involving an 11-year-old girl Saturday night or Sunday morning.

SBI investigation of Sen. R.C. Soles - Day 687

It's been 687 days since the SBI began investigating former State Sen. R.C. Soles for sexual misconduct. The investigation began in August 2009 when Stacey Scott alleged that Soles had molested him. This past weekend, a local newspaper published an in-depth report that claims Soles has molested at least five men.

Man arrested for Tabor City murder

Police arrested a man wanted for a shooting death in broad daylight in Tabor City. Tabor City Police Chief Donald Dowless says Albert Henry, 34, is in custody and charged with second degree murder. Henry was arrested around 7:30 Thursday night with the assistance of the SBI.
