Week four of the high school football season is complete. Topsail is no longer undefeated. Hoggard, Laney and North Brunswick remain unbeaten. In fact the Vikings, Bucs and Scorpions all posted impressive victories and for the second week in a row all four high schools in New Hanover County won.

Week number three of the high school football season is complete. All four high schools in Columbus County lost. All four high schools in New Hanover County won. Laney remains undefeated. Hoggard remains undefeated. Ashley gets their first win while New Hanover knocks off Wallace-Rose Hill. The Bulldog loss snaps a 30 game winning streak. It was the longest active streak in the state until Friday.

Gov. Bev Perdue has asked FEMA to add counties to its disaster declaration request for recovery, including derbis removal, after Hurricane Irene. The list includes several counties in our area, including Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, Onslow and Pender.
