Part of Carolina Beach Road is closed this afternoon, because of a fire at a junkyard. Heavy smoke is blanketing much of the area.
From the North, traffic is being diverted to Sanders Road. From the South, traffic is being directed onto Myrtle Grove Road.

The City of Wilmington is faced with some difficult decisions about how to correct its budget situation. The city is $6 million over budget due to a mistake New Hanover County made calculating the tax rate.

The polls have closed across North Carolina. Lines and waits greeted some voters this morning. Record turn-out was expected as North Carolina votes in a presidential primary that matters for the first time in at least a generation.
