video New Hanover County Commissioner Rick Catlin may have put his foot in his mouth this morning during a radio show. On the Big Talker FM this morning Catlin said just like the federal government Standard & Poor's had downgraded the county's credit rating to AA+.

Anti-annexation petitions still have a long way to go

The New Hanover County Board of Elections sent out 2,032 letters to affected property owners. The board is now reviewing the petitions it's gotten back so far.s gotten back so far.

WPD: Man wanting weed gets robbed; Suspect shoots self in hand

The male victim, age 25, admitted that he called the suspect and met him in the wooded area behind the shopping center to buy marijuana. Instead, the suspect pointed a small handgun at the victim and robbed him.

2003 jail death lawsuit settled

There's no need to go to trial to resolve a civil suit stemming from a death in the New Hanover County Jail back in 2003. County Attorney Wanda Copley says a deal has been reached between the family of Gary Rummer and the county's insurer.

Sharks end season with playoff loss

The Edenton Steamers are considered to be one of the premier summer league baseball teams in the nation. On Wednesday the Steamers ended the season for the Wilmington Sharks in the second round of the CPL playoffs.

ONLY ON 3: Shooting suspect says victim molested him

video The suspect in a shooting near the UNCW campus last month says he was actually a victim. Reginald Gagnier says he doesn't remember shooting David Carroll, but he says Carroll is the reason why he can't remember and the reason the shooting happened at all.
