Today was a very special day for folks in Wilmington and all over the state. Fifty years ago, on October 2, 1961, the Battleship North Carolina made its way up the Cape Fear River to its new home in the Port City. Folks of all ages came out to the Battleship to celebrate, paying the same admission price visitors paid half a century ago. Full story...

The New Hanover county sheriff's office is hoping some new technology will help them with underwater searches. Thursday, sheriff's deputies were learning how to operate the department's new remotely operated vehicle. In situations not conducive for divers, the machine will help deputies with search below the water's surface. The department acquired the remotely operated vehicle through a port security grant. It's equipped with all the latest technology from sonar to a GPS. Full story...

Laney and Hoggard are the only two high school football teams in our neck of the woods with undefeated records. Both teams are 5-0, but only one will be 6-0. The Bucs and Vikings will square off on Friday night at Hoggard High School. Full story...
