The organizer of the event says one of the main topics of Wednesday's meeting is the violence in the area. In May a 17-year-old was shot and killed in the neighborhood.

The grades were mixed and that's upsetting for some parents. The No Child Left Behind Act requires schools to track adequate yearly progress. Of New Hanover County's 35 public schools, 14 made adequate yearly progress. That's 40 percent of the county's schools.
