Pender Co. looks for new site for jail after Burgaw blocks plan

videoPender County is looking for a new location for a jail after Burgaw commissioners last night voted down the county's request to rezone some land. The county was under contract to purchase 34 acres along US 117 in Burgaw. Now it's back to the drawing board.

Wallace man charged with raping Pender Co. teen

Pender County investigators have charged a Wallace man with statutory rape. The Pender County Sheriff's Office charged Dustin Dewayne Raynor, 21, Monday.

Surf City receives significant beach damage from storm

Coastal Storm Damage: The coastal storm occurring March 6th and 7th has left many areas of the Surf City beach strand with significant dune escarpments, damage to crossovers and stairs leading to the beach, as well as related debris on the beach strand.

Hampstead residents speak out about plan for bypass ramp

Citizens for the Hampstead Bypass say the ramp would not only get rid of one of Hampstead's most popular restaurants, Saw Mill Grill, it would also eliminate historic Chapel Pond and the habitat both humans and wildlife call home.

Rocky Point man sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to sex crimes with child

A 20-year-old man in Rocky Point pleaded guilty Wednesday to indecent liberties with a child. A judge sentenced Reginald Dakota Faircloth to 12 to 24 months.
