Week # 3 - High School Scoreboard

Week number three of the high school football season is complete. All four high schools in Columbus County lost. All four high schools in New Hanover County won. Laney remains undefeated. Hoggard remains undefeated. Ashley gets their first win while New Hanover knocks off Wallace-Rose Hill. The Bulldog loss snaps a 30 game winning streak. It was the longest active streak in the state until Friday.

Water Quality Swimming Alerts lifted

Bacteria levels are back to normal at the public beach access at South Shore Drive and Kinston Avenue in Surf City. Same good news for Lighthouse Park in Caswell Beach.

One dead, another in custody after overnight shooting in Rocky Point

video It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Brighton Road in the Summit Ridge neighborhood. The Pender County Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived at the home of Michael Grant the 34-year-old fired a gun at the deputies.

Perdue asks for more federal help; New Hanover not on list

Gov. Bev Perdue has asked FEMA to add counties to its disaster declaration request for recovery, including derbis removal, after Hurricane Irene. The list includes several counties in our area, including Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, Onslow and Pender.

Couple charged after chase in power company truck stolen from Irene clean-up

The clean-up in Pender County was slowed yesterday after a couple allegedly stole a Four County EMC truck and started a chase that ended two counties away.

Pender moves home game vs. Whiteville after vandalism to field

Water Quality Swimming Alerts issued in Surf City, Caswell Beach

State officials today are notifying the public that testing at an ocean-side site in Pender County showed levels of bacteria exceeding the state and Environmental Protection Agency’s recreational water quality swimming standards.
