video Waking up this morning you may have smelled or seen smoke where you live. As winds in the Cape Fear region shifted, smoke from the Pender County fires is pushing southward affecting residents down the coast and across the state line.

FIRST ON 3: Pender Co. employee charged for released personnel records

A Pender County employee has been charged with releasing confidential personnel records to the media. The Pender County Sheriff's Office charged James Thomas Bellizzi a class 3 misdemeanor.

FIRST ON 3: Chance for "super-fog" tonight in Pender County

Today's storms coupled with the smoke from the wildfires in Pender County will most likely combine to create a "super-fog" tonight according to forecasters. Super-fog is a combination of smoke and water vapor that produces zero visibility over roadways.

Visitors say Pender wildfires no reason to cancel holiday beach plans

video Crews fighting wildfires in Pender County set controlled burns today to try and get rid of fuel for the flames. Many folks traveling to the area may be worried if their holiday plans will be ruined because of the fire and smoke. But tourists who have already made their way to the area say there is nothing to worry about.

Crews set fires to fight Juniper Road Fire

On the eastern side of Pender County crews continue fighting the Juniper Road Fire in the Holly Shelter Game Land. Firefighters say they now have 25 percent containment on the 21,500-acre fire.

Crews try to protect residents, homes from wildfire

video Crews battling wildfires in Pender County since last week have yet another fire on their hands. Over the weekend, the Blueberry Farm Fire rekindled in Sampson County and crossed into Pender. It forced residents of Lizzie Henry Road to be evacuated Saturday.

Rain could hinder work on Pender Co. fire lines

Fire officials say 19 homes have been evacuated from a wildfire that has moved from Sampson County into Pender County.
