Ricky Meeks has become a familiar name and face around town. The 42-year-old was born and raised right here in Wilmington.

Voters in Wilmington had another chance to hear from their candidates for city council and mayor Monday night. WHQR 91.3 FM held a candidates forum that let a live audience and a panel of journalist ask questions. Many of the questions revolved around jobs but voters WWAY spoke to were most interested in hearing and meeting each candidate in person.

City Council hopeful Margaret Haynes describes herself as a North Carolina gal. She was born and raised in Durham, earned her masters in public administration and then worked for a member of Congress handling constituent services.
