For the first time this year the average price for a gallon of gas is cheaper than one year ago. AAA predicts if conditions stay the same, prices will not top three dollars this summer.

Average retail gasoline prices in North Carolina have fallen 3.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.58/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.70/g, according to gasoline price website NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com.
