Cooper wants more NC schools to get bus cameras

A panel of lawmakers, safety advocates and health professionals back North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper's proposal to install more cameras on school buses. Cooper says the cameras will deter drivers from skirting around them as they pick up or unload students.

26-year-old female polar bear dies at NC Zoo

Officials at the North Carolina Zoo say Patches, its 26-year-old female polar bear, has died after several weeks of declining health. General curator Ken Reininger and senior veterinarian Dr. J.B. Minter said a necropsy, which is an animal autopsy, showed Patches had an extensive lung mass suggestive of lung cancer.

NC county election boards reviewing vote totals today
