Benji Horrell, our Teacher of the Week, brings sweet music to the halls of Hoggard High School. With a performer's heart and an educator's head, Mr. Horrell is an inspiration to both past and present students. The Choral Director says performing, not teaching, is his favorite thing because that's when everyone is singing at one time and that means there are sometimes as many as 150 singers on stage. This year's Riverfest filled up the riverfront on Water Street and was expanded to Chandler's Warf. Fireworks, two stages of entertainment and about 200 craft and food vendors are just a few of the things this weekend's festival offered. Full story...

The City of Wilmington kicked off its fall celebrations and river fest weekend with a garden party at Greenfield Lake this afternoon. The Greenfield Lake Collaborative hosted the event to raise funds that will support annual community and economic development projects in Greenfield Lake. The New Hanover Arboretum opens its doors this weekend for art lovers as the arboretum celebrates its 25th anniversary.
