Weather says fall, azaleas say spring

It definitely feels like fall, but this morning a sign of spring arrived in Wilmington. Encore Azalea dropped off hundreds of azalea plants at Airlie Gardens this morning for next spring's Azalea Garden Tour.

History blooms in florist's attic discovery

When the owner of Julia's Florist, formerly known as Rehder's Florist, took over, she knew that a box of Rehder's things was still in the attic, but she never had time to go through it. When she finally brought it out, Dana Cook found hand written letters, old pictures, yellowed newspaper clippings and magazines.

When Dana Cook bought and took over Julia’s Florist – and subsequently Rehder’s Florist – two years ago, she knew a box of Rehder relics existed in the shop’s attic. It remained untouched as she immersed herself in learning the ins and outs of her new Wilmington business.
