Judge: No bond for Marine charged with infant's murder

A Camp Lejeune Marine has been charged with murder in the death of an 11-month-old child. In addition to an open count of murder, 23-year-old LCpl. Matthew Scott Krause, of Maysville, has been charged with negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and abuse and neglect.

Marine accused of shaking baby to death

videoA Camp Lejeune Marine is charged with the death of an infant. Investigators from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office and Naval Criminal Investigative Service responded to the Naval Hospital aboard Camp Lejeune July 28 for an unresponsive 11-month-old. The infant had been in the care of LCpl. Matthew Krause, 23, who was the child's mother's boyfriend.

Camp Lejeune teacher arrested on heroin charges

A sixth-grade teacher at Camp Lejeune has been arrested on heroin charges. Onslow County deputies have charged Thersea Catherine Fedor, 53, of Hubert, with one count of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, one charge for allegedly keeping the drug in her home, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

WPD cites Lejeune Marine for jumping into river

videoWilmington Police cited a Camp Lejeune Marine last week for jumping into and swimming across the Cape Fear River. A police department spokeswoman says officers responded around 1:49 a.m. Friday to a call about someone jumping into the river in the 100 block of Water Street downtown.

Residents near New River warned of loud explosions

Officials at Camp Lejeune are warning nearby residents that they might hear periodic explosions as unexploded ordnance is destroyed. A spokesman says Marines are blowing up mostly old rifle and rocket grenades or mortar rounds used on the training ranges.
